Should have stayed home and flown a kite

I just got home from work.

I rode my bike.

There are currently, and were at the time, winds up to 25 mph.

I rode headlong into the wind nearly the whole way home.

I am very tired.

quick thoughts before work

I love to sit with the windows and the front door open wide so I can let in as much of what is going on out there. Be it sun shine, brisk chilly wind, or the many sounds of apartment life. I swear I don't do it to be the old lady who stares out her window to know everybody's business. Although I find it interesting that for some reason when I walk by an open window I look through it. And I'm not the only one, because everyone who walks by mine takes a peek in too. But because it's only for a quick second and it's usually so bright outside they don't see me. It's a brief moment that I'm sure they would be very uncomfortable knowing I can see them but they didn't see me.

topic change

I watched this documentary about Christianity and the rift in america between what the gospel teaches, and what is actually being portrayed through Christianity as a whole in america. It was made by a Christian and I found it to be very interesting.
The main point the narrator was making was that the love that we are commanded to show to people is not what we are actually giving to them. He brought up some valid points, and it has really gotten me thinking about the way I have attempted to show love to people.
In fact I have been receiving this message and others from the same vein from several places, and I have been sorting my thoughts and actions out based upon various sermons I have heard recently. As always I am learning more about the way God has called me to love people. The older I get the more I can look back and see if I loved the right way, or if I leaned too far one way or the other. Too far towards being wishy washy in love with out truth thus letting things go unsaid, and being to far towards the other extreme of being harsh and cutting with criticism and not allowing love to soften the blow.

Thank you God for never ceasing to work on and mold my heart. I want to know how to love like you do and I want to show people who you really are and what you can do with a broken and humbled people. Father I pray that I will continue to seek first your ways and follow your commandments in order to put aside my ways and my fleshly desires. Thank you for loving me as I am and "knowing that I am better than this".
Amen

A wonderful day with my folks

today was an exciting and fun day!

mom and dad came up for breakfast and we of course went to our favorite place here, Norms. you can pretty much get what ever you want there and they have no time limitations on when you can order food. For instance I got steak and shrimp while mom and dad got normal breakfast foods :)

It was delish.

Then we went to Lush!!!! It was mom's first time there so I informed the lady of mom's newbie status and she gave mom a hand message /treatment while she showed her some of the products. It was really fun  being there for mom's first time and getting to show her all the cool and creative products they have there. The sales lady was wonderful! We are all best friends now since we chatted about Lush loyalty, traveling to the UK, and singing that song that goes " When I'm a walking I strut my stuff...."

all in all greatness

then we came home and Picked up Aaron so we could go to Walmart to get MY NEW BIKE!!!
I can not express just how excited I am knowing I don't have to walk to work any more!!
it still needs the front and back fenders, but all i have to do is call some ppl and they will send them ASAP for free!
It's pink which is not a usual color choice for me, but i adore it none the less. It reminds me of the pink dress of moms that I wear for special occasions. I got a helmet, light, and lock for it so both I and the bike will be super safe.

Time for a PSA moment: Why is it that when we grow up we suddenly don't need helmets any more? Protect your head folks! Wear the brain bucket! I will be one of those losers out there riding my bike with my helmet and I encourage you to do the same (end PSA)

So without further adu here is Sally, my awesome pink bike (and some pictures of us putting the finishing touches on it):

updation

ok I hear you guys, you're tired of seeing the picture of the chair up every time you look at my blog, so I guess I better update finally!

Sometimes I forget that my last name is Glaize and I look for my time card in the B section. Monday it took me almost 2 minutes to realize that I was in the wrong part of alphabet town. I wonder how long it takes for you to make the switch. Is it ever something that you are into whole heartedly, or do you relapse often? Also, last little tidbit on this topic, my children will need to learn how to spell my former last name for all the paper work they have to fill out for the rest of their lives! Too bad it wasn't something shorter it would have been a lot easier for them.
So that's the end of that though, and this post :)

a day off!!

I got called this morning letting me know that I would not need to come in due to rain so Aaron and I caught up on some chores and I recovered two chairs!
We found them sitting next to our apartment's dumpster, it's crazy the stuff people throw away here!
I used some fabric I had left over from making a purse a while ago. It's not the permanent fabric for them, but they needed something ASAP and this was the most sturdy of my collection.
Here's the before and after :)

I'm not sure why, but this much i know is true, even in all my relying on God since we have moved here i have been avoiding Him. Much like you would when you see some one from high school and you duck out to the next aisle. some times if you are lucky you can avoid them altogether and they are none the wiser. sometimes they totally see you and then a new level of awkwardness is added to the situation when they now know you were trying to avoid them despite your now compensational over enthusiasm.
well i got caught, although it's not like He doesn't see me hiding in the depends aisle knowing full well i am  hoping that i could just disappear and have this encounter later when i am more prepare and i have my life more together. or even better not at all and we can just keep going on like this.

but the truth is i miss Him and i need him and my heart has forgotten what it feels like to have my blood pumping so fast it drowns out all thoughts other than Him. i slowly tricked myself into believing that because i was relying on him to pay the bills and make our lives work that i was still in touch with him. but the truth is i was no more in touch than i am with the ATM machine. i would show up when i needed something. but until i needed something else we didn't see each other.

i feel like spring is here and thawing my frozen dead heart.

i went to the women's retreat for Morningstar and i was reminded for like the millionth time to "read my bible and pray more" it seems the older i get the more significant that phrase has become to me and it sounds less and less trite as it did to my just entering high school brain.
i didn't come back from the retreat "refreshed" or "more passionate about the Lord" even though those are great feelings and how i usually return. this time i have purpose and resolve pulsating in my body. like my limbs have the extra oompf they need to propel my body towards the things of the Lord. i got a taste of the "Bible Bubble" and saw how far i was from it. i'm tired of mediocrity and settling. i desire to know MY LORD and be close to Him again. so this is a time of drawing near. fighting to get back to Him.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:14
