quiet time shh

i challenged our weekly bible study to try and keep a quiet time this week and to record what God was showing them in the morning, then later that day write about how they responded to His prompting.

and admittedly i missed the first 2 days of the challenge :(
but day three is on tack!

today i read acts 5:12-10:48 (i got caught up in the story and i couldn't stop :D)
what i really heard God speaking to me was when philip was talking to the eunuch of ethiopia. i love how the ethiopian was reading the bible, and trying to understand but he knew he was missing something. God brought along Philip to teach him and show him what he was grasping for blindly. he opened his eyes and taught him about this man he was reading about who suffered for humanity and more importantly for him. and the eunuch totally got it and asked Philip how he could be baptized and then he is baptized and BAM God pulls Philip out of that place and brings him to another city to preach to more people!

this is 100% God divined appointment. God told Philip to head in this general direction and he went and wound up meeting this guy. then when he has done what God sent him there for he gets zapped back to some other town to keep preaching. Amazing!

the most amazing part is not that God zapped him some where else, even though it's pretty cool, no the best part is how you can see God weaving these guys lives together perfectly in order to meet with each other and create a beautiful relationship with the Lord.

i need to be aware of how God is weaving my life with other peoples to create this great piece of fabric with stories and opportunities to be that light for God. Which is really to say i need to be following the thread He has given me, not so much that i need to be able to see the whole sheet or even the pattern.

so today i hope to be more obedient in the things that God is leading me in.

busy busy busy

I'm writing this while I'm in Colorado for Amee's wedding!!! I'm so excited for them it is going to be great. The wedding is tomorrow and we are all busy trying to remember all the things we will need for the big day.
It makes me think about when Aaron and I are man and wife and when we will be starting our own family together. I am so glad that he came with me. I know he had to sit around a lot and this was probably a boring trip thus far but he will enjoy the wedding. it means so much to me that we could go together. He is a Good man.
Speaking of good man, we just celebrated our 1 year anniversary and it was very sweet and romantic. We spent the whole day together going to Balboa Park and to the beach for dinner.
We started the day by opening gifts. Now let me take the time not to let you know I really do not like to wait for gifts, but on the same hand I feel like I would be cheated if I go to the day of and there were no gifts. So I am torn and really struggle when it comes to being patient for the day to come. The day of I woke up early, but like it's Christmas day early, and waited several hours before i woke Aaron up. we opened gifts, and it was a lot of fun.
I made Aaron a basket full of goodies and a redeemable coupon for a romantic Lasagna diner made by muah. He had a 2 parter gift so i only opened half of it and the other half i would get later that night. The part i opened was all 4 seasons of the Office so we watched some of them after opening gifts. When then got dressed and ready to go to Balboa Park.
At Balboa we went to the Spanish Art Villa area, a place I surprisingly had never been before at the park. Sadly the art there was quite lacking in many aspects. some was pretty good but some of the stuff looked like high school art assignments gone awry. We still had fun looking at all the different stuff and checking out the cool rock collections. Later we were tired and needed to take a break so we sat on some steps on the main drag, which was the perfect time for an impromptu photo shoot. It was so much fun and they turned out really cute.
We then went and got sandwiches and packed a picnic for the beach in the basket from the gift. as we headed towards La Jolla it looked pretty bad weather wise and we thought for sure it was going to start raining, which is problematic because we don't have good wipers for the car yet. but we went despite the appearance of rain and thought it was cold and stormy, it did not rain. we enjoyed our picnic dinner and then it was time for the second half of the gift. Aaron made a list of 101 things he loves about me. he read them all to me on the beach and it was wonderful. some of them were funny, some sweet , and some were beautiful. it was a great day and we had lots of fun.
I think about life a year ago and how i was feeling, trying to figure out all these new emotions. I'm still trying to figure out what is going on. The difference is i know that i don't need to do this on my own, i can depend on Aaron and we can together depend on God to lead us and we will follow. It has been a great year.

forgiveness

God has been doing a work in my heart lately, even though i have felt distant from Him. my own doing of course.
little bits and pieces have been coming together to bring me to a foundational truth that i have let slip from my thoughts.

Forgiveness.
i have been angry and have had malice in my voice all too often towards people. i have been holding grudges and letting resentment and bitterness take over my thoughts. all of this is a result of forgetting the power of forgiveness. and i gave in all to easily because it is always easy to slip back in to old habits. they felt comfortable at first so they go unnoticed, but i quickly noticed the symptoms, the restrictions that come with the old ways. it's like when you are wearing sneakers all day long and you finally realize at some point during the day that you feet are hot and uncomfortable. all you want to do is stop right where you are and take them off, let your feet breath but you cant. in fact, you still choose to wear the shoes for another 3 hrs, and they are seemingly the longest 3 hours of your life. you dream about taking them off and how relived you will feel but you are punishing your self unnecessarily. when you get home instead of fixing the problem entirely you just take the shoes off, or only take care of the outer issues that are obvious to others, rather than going all the way and taking off the socks too; exposing your feet which would be not settling for the temporary smoothing of the surface dysfunction but going for the root.
7 months after england and i have already began to forget what God has shown me about His love for me and the world and His ultimate sacrifice. i started picking up on it a few weeks ago, and today in church pastor phil really laid it all out there for me. what was the baggage that i was carrying around that was causing me to not be able to forgive others? what did i still need to deal with?
because of this digression i have lost my vision of love for people and His vision of love for people. i want those eyes back the ones who see everyone through an umbrella of Christ's blood. to see people as His children and beloveds... just as i am.

God..Lord...Father
please help me to see as you do with love and compassion and grace;
help me to remember to forgive as i have been forgiven;
give me the knowledge to act as you would desire me to
i pray Lord that i would recommit my life to this mission of showing your love and grace to those who don't deserve it just as i am shown your love grace.
i love you Lord and i thank you for your grace and forgiveness.
in your awesome and holy name
Amen

so i'm taking off

no, i'm not going any where even though i thought bible college was in my future. not any more... nuff said, moving on.
i'm excited about how God will be using me here and i am open to the possibilities. College group is getting bigger and Over flow is going to be starting up very soon with tons to do there i will be busy.
although i'm not leaving Santee, i am leaving behind being so dependent on my parents and running straight into this crazy thing called being an adult. it's fun, scary freeing, intimidating, and long over due in my mind. i'm quitting my job at Color Me Mine and i'm looking for a full time grown up job.and i'm done with school for now; it will be nice to live a life that doesn't revolve around the semester system.
i'm growing up, and closer to God and in the process hopefully encouraging and influencing those around me.
